Book Overview

Laminated and pierced, beaded and inset, whittled and sliding -- handles, hinges, and knobs are too often forgotten little afterthoughts. Yet these fixtures can transform a run-of-the-mill wood object into something extraordinary. With 30 projects devoted completely to these accessories, you won't have a "badly dressed'' piece of furniture again! Fascinating book!

I loved this book! It sets forth a dozen or so projects, each using different methods and tools. The book takes the reader through the conceptualization and design stage of each project, and details how each project is drawn out on 1/4 inch graph paper. Then the making of the handle or knob is described and pictured in great detail. I learned about Swedish Sloyd knives, scroll saws, and how to use a lathe, including what type of holder to use with your lathe with these small and intricate pieces. I liked the authors' approach to each project. The pictures of the final results are breathtaking. This is a book for the woodworker with some experience who can appreciate uniqueness of hand articulated handles and knobs.
