Making a Baby: Everything You Need to Know to Get Pregnant

Out of all the infertility books, this is the only one that gave us hope that we would have a child and helped us to understand why women over 35 have difficulty conceiving. Luckily, we now have a precious daughter (age 5 months)--but three years ago, it seemed like we'd never have a family. All the emotions we felt are described in this book and the stress reduction exercises helped both of us when we had to wait for test results. It's so easy to blame the other spouse, but we learned to deal with those feelings so we didn't add to our marriage stress.The book is written in a friendly style and makes you feel like you're NOT ALONE! Anyway--it helped us so much. We recommend to all our friends who are now starting to plan a family.

Excellent book and I highly recommend to couples who are wanting to start a family. While we were not diagnosed as infertile, the book had great tips on how to prepare the body for conception and pregnancy, and my husband and I learned a great deal. It's easy to read and understand, and the section on alternative methods to reduce stress was superb, and the diet section was excellent.

When I showed this book to friends and family the general comment was "I thoght you knew how to do that!". Well, sure I did, but this book helped clear up a lot of misunderstandings and clarified many fine points that are not general knowledge. I read the book as soon as we started trying for a baby and everybody said it was too early and it would just get me all worried. In fact the book is a great source of specific information, and it is a good start on the topic since everything is explained easily and starting with the more basic terms and abbreviations to the more complex aspects of which hormone does what when. The glossary is a very handy addition where I could look up terms even long after the first read. It deals evenly with all aspects of fertiliy and provides very person who is new in this game with a helpful guideline. It actually gave me a more relaxed outlook on the question of whether I was fertile or not because it gave me an excellent overview of all the things that can be done today to help fertility along. So, even if the "year" is not over go ahead and read it, it will give you more peace of mind then sitting around wondering what all could go wrong. It is better to know your enemy and take the scare out of not knowing. Enjoy the book, I sure did (and still am every time I read up on yet another chapter that has become relevant). AND since it does not assume you know it all, it is a perfect guide for men trying to understand what is happening to them and their partners.

Superb book on the problems leading to infertility and what can be done to resolve these. The section on Male Infertility was enlightening--and a must-read for all couples struggling to have a baby. So often we look at the woman when conception does not occur--and half the time it's a "male" problem. Get it checked out--because there is treatment, according to these authors. I was most impressed with the natural therapies sections in the book--and the part on reducing stress was most helpful for me and my wife.
