Makin' Groceries is the story of a little boy named Nicky, who during summer vacation, helps his Maw-Maw Lillian at her Cajun & Creole Cafeacute;. It follows them around New Orleans, as they joyfully shop for groceries at different places around the Big Easy, like The French Market, a River-Road produce stand & a GIANT Supermarket. Makin' Groceries is an old South Louisiana expression that the region's residents use for food shopping. The expression derives from the French faire son marcheacute;, "to do one's market shopping," faire translating either "to do" or "to make." The New Orleans Public Library Rebuilding Project receives a donation from the sale of this book.
