From the beloved creator of Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, the romantic (sort of) comedy Maison Ikkoku, in a new edition in its original episodic order Travel into Japan's nuttiest apartment house and meet its volatile inhabitants: Kyoko, the beautiful and mysterious new apartment manager; Yusaku, the exam-addled college student; Mrs. Ichinose, the drunken gossip; Kentaro, her bratty son; Akemi, the boozy bar hostess; and the mooching and peeping Mr. Yotsuya. Funny, touching, and a tad off-kilter, Maison Ikkoku is the great Rumiko Takahashi at her very best. Now they've gone and done it After chancing upon the lovely Kyoko and the rakish Coach Mitaka in an oh-so-compromising situation, bumbling gadabout Godai's little world is sent twirling off its axis...again Attempting to quell the memory of her indiscrete dalliance (and hoping to get some rest and relaxation), Kyoko arranges to take a much-needed vacation. Hot on her trail, though, is Godai, hoping for a reconciliation rendezvous. Will these accidental tourists be reunited on a weekend getaway, or remain strangers on a train?
Student Affairs starts things off right in the thick of yet another misunderstanding that could wreck Yusaku Godai and Kyoko Otonashi's budding romance (this time, Kyoko's to blame... well, maybe Shun... or Salade, the dog). Yet again, Yusaku finds that he needs time alone to think and, when he returns to Ikkoku House, has a confession to make... but did he make the right choice? Kyoko decides to take a trip to clear her mind, but has a straggler trying to meet up with her at every turn (only to fail constantly through near misses). Later chapters see the return of Yagami, back to win Yusaku's heart by any means (and willing to use crafty Yotsuya to do it). Once again, Rumiko Takahashi manages to keep fans on edge with romantic tension thick enough to cut whilst keeping the details light, airy, and fun. She also adds more insight into Kyoko's character and why the young widow is so hesitant to follow her heart (whereever it may lead). Only one question remains (well, for those who didn't read the series in its first run)... will Shun's training pay off (aww, how cute)?
