Delightful Historical Christian Romance

This is such a find! Not only does this book take us to the romantic and breathtakingly beautiful south for a tale of love in the light of the Lord for one story. There are four stories in this book, all about the same family and the romance and love in them. The book takes place in Alabama and the time in before the Civil War. It has more then religious undertones, the whole point of the book is how different people get saved by Christ. So if this isn't something that interest you, you might not enjoy this book. However, I find reading this book strengthens my devotion to the Lord and it fills me with a sense of peace. The Scenario: Book 1: Lily is 16 and a devout Christian, her mother thinks she can get into heven by good deeds alone. Lily is falling in love with Harrison Wingate, the Captain of a stemship. Lily's mother doesn't think he is good enough. She has her eye Lily's cousin from South Carolina, Green, who is conceited yet charming. Will Lily be forced to marry Green? Will Lily's mother be saved? Will Harrison WIngate stay in the picture? Book 2: Emma is Lily's aunt and chaperone. She considers herself a spinster and thinks she never will marry. Emma has some resent towrds God. But her life changes when Jonathan Ramsey falls in love with her. He wants to marry her, but the Civil War gets in the way. When Emma is reading the Bible to a patient, she discovers what Lily has been trying to tell her all along. Jonathan develops a serious case of gangrene. Will he live? Will Emma and Jonathan marry? Will Emma stop being angry at the Lord? Book 3: Lily's brother Foy is now 28 and very mature for his age because of entering the navy very young. He has been waiting for someon all his life, and finally she arrives. They courtship is a rough one because he has little money and she is angry at God. Adrianna has not had alot of love. Her parents separated and she has been passed from parent to parent and grandparents. At school Adrianna learns about Darwinism and doesn't like to read the Bible. Will she believe everyone when they talk to her about the Bible? Will Foy marry her even though she is not believing in God like him? Will God protect them from Green who tries to break them up? Book 4: Libba is an orphan. She, now 18, has been invited to stay with a wealthy family. Affection starved, she is sent into a whirlwind when one of the sons in the family flirts with her. However, a special friend, Daniel, loves her too. Libba has not forgiven her father for not finding her or loving her. SO when she is proposed to, she says she can not marry becuase she is not a complete person. Who do you think her father is? Will she find him? Will she forgive him? Who will she marry? It is a wonderful journey of faith and love. It brings a sense of peace to its readers. What a comforting book!
