Madame Alexander Collector's Dolls II, Second Series

Hard to find this as it is out of print. There is a First Series as well, also out of print. Both books contain some misinformation, but not enough to cross this book off your "must have" list. This Second Series is important to have if you already own the First Series as it contains a whole page of corrections for the First Series book. Too bad there isn't a Third Series to correct the Second! Given a choice, the First Series is the better book, even with the scattered errors, mainly because the dolls are listed by year which makes it easier to find doll identities as most dolls are marked with the year. The Second Series lists the dolls by name, so you are in trouble if attempting to identify a doll as you will have to look at every page/photo which is dizzying. If you already know the name, you would use the index anyway, right? So why Ms. Smith chose to have the Second Series list dolls by name puzzles me. Both of these books are invaluable and a must for anyone interested in Alexander dolls, not for pricing, but for info. The First Series chapters begin with each year and a full page or more of all dolls sold that year, and a paragraph about the doll, marks and clothing etc, followed by pages and pages of those dolls with captions containing even more info. The Second Series simply shows the dolls in alphabetical order, by name, with captions. Thankfully, most dolls in the Second Series are not repeats of the First Series. Try to find both books!
