[...] Zak Ruvalcaba's Dreamweaver 8 Unleashed is a great book for beginner and intermediate web site designers, and advanced users moving to the Dreamweaver software! I designed my first web site in 1997 and have been designing sites since with various tools and recently started using Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is an extraordinary tool and it contains many tools to improve the web designers work flow which significantly complicates learning how to use Dreamweaver effectively. Dreamweaver 8 Unleashed makes learning Dreamweaver 8 easy. The book is great at covering all aspects of Dreamweaver usage, is very broad in coverage, and gets to the point. Yet it is covers enough to get one through designing static web pages, managing web sites and developing intermediate level web applications with Dreamweaver. The book is not for those looking on "how to" design web pages, web sites, databases or applications. It does provide the basics on how to do all of these things using Dreamweaver 8. In seven sections it covers; getting up to speed with Dreamweaver 8, Static web page development, team collaboration, incorporating multimedia and automation, and creating and building dynamic web pages. The latter is demonstrated using four server-side technologies, ASP, ASP.NET, ColdFusion and PHP. It also has three appendixes covering authoring XML, accessibility and extending Dreamweaver. The book is backed up with a book specific web site where examples and additional information can be downloaded. In comparison to other books, you would need to buy several to cover the information that is contained in this book and you may still lack the information on how to use Dreamweaver 8 effectively.

This book is the best resource for Macromedia's latest version of Dreamweaver. You can tell this book has been written from the ground up about the MX version and is not some reproduced Dreamweaver 4 reference. We have it work and everyone seems to get quite a bit out of it. The new web personel - who need to get up a running in Dreamweaver fast have found it very useful, as did myself coming from UltraDev 4 experience. If you need an all in one solution for Dreamweaver MX - than this is your book.
This book is phenomenal and mind-blowing...for real.

Hello, I have been looking for a complete Dreamweaver MX book written by gurus and or professionals for over a year now. This is a complete tutorial, manual and experienced user's directive bundled into one pretty book. It is by far the most educative and concise self-study book for Dreamweaver MX...believe me i have read a lot of books by the Wrox ..I used much of the recent snowed in days in the D.C /M.D area to bull-doze through this book. I have discovered techniques i could not get from any other source. I have been using Dreamweaver MX for over 8 months now and this book is still teaching me new things. It is concise authoritative, intuitive, has great graphics, great sequence description, and some invaluable real world experience. The most mind-blowing technique i am impressed with right now is the " shopping cart functionality" . The the Chapters on "RecordSets" are very user friendly..I had no idea Dreamweaver MX was loaded with that much dynamic power. Mathew Pizzi and Ruvalcaba are "off the hook."
Unleashed is best

I have bought several books on Dreamweaver MX and Sams seemed to have figured it out with this one. It has far more information than the Dreamweaver Bible, and Inside Dreamweaver. It is well written and contains great information on all levels of web site development and management. The example are clear, and really teach you how to get the most out of Dreamweaver. It's one of the best software books I bought in a while. Great Job!
Excellent for Designer and Developer

Having just purchased Dreamweaver MX, I needed a book to cover just about every feature and this one fit the bill perfectly. My main reasons for buying this book: I wanted to know the little details about DW-MX that I had glossed over previously: integration with Fireworks, library items, templates and site management, as well as database integration. This book explains those features simply and straightforwardly. There are some excellent chapters to get you up and running connecting your pages to a database using ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, JSP and ColdFusion. I also needed to learn more about ASP.NET integration, datasets and datagrids in particular. The authors provide clear and concise explanations and tutorials which explain not only how to do it but why it's done like it is. One of the chapters explains how to create your own public extensions for placement on Macromedia's Exchange site. Customization of MX's interface is also explained in this chapter (very cool stuff). This one won't collect dust on my shelf like so many books I bought previously.
