Read this little book in 1963 as a young nuclear engineer. Wooldridge (of Thomson, Ramo, Wooldridge) takes a complex subject and, sitting on the beach in Hawaii, simplifies it for pedestrian understanding. E.g., we all know nerve cells command our muscles, but Wooldridge explains that the signal is a stream of pulses, conveyed as a wave front where the ratio of sodium to potassium changes.
