Bat Fairies, Ladybugs, and Elf Fairies

This installment of the Fairy Chronicles adds some interesting characters to the series when the fairies find themselves in the Land of Darkness seeking bat fairies. There is light in this land, as the fairies soon discover. The character development in this book seems more indepth than in previous installments. Luna and particularly her gifts are well developed. I found the Dark Witch's Story fascinating. I enjoyed the Madam Robin mini story too. Snapdragon being frustrated with herself was endearing. Without giving too much away, I liked the part the ladybug, elf owl, and elf fairy played in this story. I think I probably enjoyed those characters best of all.

Imaginative

This magical adventure took us someplace dark, yet there was a light at the end of the tunnel. We were taken to the Land of Darkness, yet there were boxes of light, an elf fairy of light and more. My kids liked that everything was not as it seemed and that the action was not predictable. This book included colorful and unusual characters unlike those from any mold. The action scenes were nicely illustrated adding to our vision of the exciting events. This book is imaginative and unpredictable, a winning combination in our view.

Enjoyed this book.

I like the way this fairy series is building up to something. There's a lot of tension in this book. Witches take center stage in this one, as opposed to the gargoyles and dwarves of the previous book. I enjoyed the roles of the elf owl and the ladybug (that isn't really a ladybug) in this book. I really got engrossed in this story, and I felt trapped in the box of light with the fairies at one point. I'm glad we all made it out of the Well of Secrets okay. There was a lot of suspense in this book but a happy ending as usual.

Another Good Fairy Story

In this chapter of the Fairy Chronicles story, Luna takes charge and leads her troops into the Well of Secrets to rescue bat fairies that have been kidnapped. This was a quick and enjoyable read and in perfect keeping with the magic and creativity of the rest of the series. Ladybugs and owls mix with magic mirrors, merpeople, and a lot of other ecclectic things to form an interesting story. A fantastic magical read, I do recommend it.

Great Characters

These are independent and quick thinking young girls. They are active, busy, involved in good things, and very responsible. In this adventure, the fairies are enjoying a holiday get-together but are called out on an emergency fairy mission. Even though all of the books in this series are different, this was different still than the rest of the fairy adventures. We start off with a shock - bat fairies have been kidnapped. (We learn why later.) Because of the urgency, this storyline seemed to play out faster than the other books in this series. The fairies meet a Light Witch and a Dark Witch. Without giving too much away, the fairies learn a lesson about trusting and find out that looks can be deceiving. The witches in this book are different than those in the earlier books of the series. They are enemies of one another and involved in a fight, so they get down to business quickly and there's no time for the fun of using magic seeds or having cute tea parties with the fairies. This book reveals a secret about Madam Robin, which added a little lightness to the fairies' scary journey into the Land of Darkness. I enjoyed this book and the "change of pace" in the series.
