Lucky Break

When Jason Corwin and Lauren Perkins were teenagers, their secret love affair ended in heartbreak. The Perkins and Corwins have been enemies for a very long time, since a witch from the Perkins family placed a curse in revenge against her broken heart on the Corwins family. Years later, Lauren is back home attempting to sell her grandmother's house when she bumps into Jason at a town festival. While things seem to pick up where they left off between Jason and Lauren, Lauren is determined to keep her distance. Lauren doesn't want to get hurt again and her dream of becoming a fashion designer is taking her to Paris anyway. Jason knows all about broken dreams. He doesn't want to stand in the way of Lauren's, but he doesn't want to lose her either. When things start going mysteriously wrong for Lauren, Jason may have to protect her then let her go. Lauren and Jason are almost doomed from the start in Lucky Break. Hidden treasure, an unstable sister, a curse, and family members who believe more in that curse than in each other conspire against them at every turn. I like that there are very few pretenses between Lauren and Jason. It lends to a more meaningful relationship between them. Jason and Lauren seem made for each other. It' a shame they lost all of that time together. They do a good job making up for it though, with a tender romance laced with sizzling hot sex. The curse destroys many lives, but by book three of the Lucky Series, it seems everyone gets their happily ever after. I felt badly for Lauren as she struggled with the weight on her shoulders and I loved watching Jason help bear her burdens. Lucky Break is the perfect ending to this delightful trilogy. Good read...

My only compaint is that there are only three cousins! I enjoyed this series and have always enjoyed Carly Phillips' writing style. this book doesn't disappoint as the last of the triology.

Lucky Break

Very enjoyable. A fast fun sexy read. Carly Phillips really ties up the Corwin story with the third lucky book!

fascinating finish to a fine trilogy

In Stewart, Massachusetts with the deaths of the evil Perkins family and the incarceration of the few survivors, the witch powers they claimed proved false. However, although they apparently won the feud, the Corwin family, especially the older generation, believes anyone with a touch of Perkins blood is cursed with evil in their DNA. Lauren Perkins comes home to prepare the family mansion for sale. Although she had nothing to do with the malevolence of her kin, everyone especially the Corwin brood assumes she is tainted. Only, Jason Corwin who never forgot the greatest summer of his life thinks otherwise. He wants to court Lauren, but his family is divided based on age between for and against. However, when the repairs to her house fall apart, Jason and Lauren revert back to what their families always have done: feuding. The third Corwin Curse tale (see LUCKY CHARM and LUCK STREAK) is a fascinating finish to a fine trilogy as Lauren only wants to sell her family house and get out of Stewart while Jason only wants Lauren. Although the premise is a bit thin, Lauren is the jewel who can run away from love or embrace it and break the Corwin Curse. Harriet Klausner

4 1/2 stars. Great book for the end of the trilogy...hot and sexy

This is the final book in the Corwin trilogy following Lucky Charm and Lucky Streak. It was a good ending that brought things all together. This book follows the last of the Corwin male cousins, Jason, son of Thomas. Jason was introduced in the last book, Lucky Streak. He is a snowboarder who tested positive for drugs and has been banned from the sport. He's come home to 'lick his wounds' and be with his family. He's taken up the family business and become a contractor to make money. Lauren Perkins, introduced in Lucky Charm, is the granddaughter of Mary Perkins, the former mayor. She is in town cleaning up her grandmother's home preparing it for sale. She isn't a typical Perkins and doesn't believe in the Corwin curse or care to 'keep it alive.' I think this is my favorite of the three books. It brings the curse to an ending and wraps up the story fairly well. The relationship between Jason and Lauren seemed real--the reactions to each other and their situations didn't seemed forced. Once again, there were no shocking twists in the story--it was all very simple and easy to figure out long before it was revealed. It was a steamy read that was quick. It only took me a day to read. I'm happy with the ending to the series. If you liked the first two, you will enjoy this one, too.
