The Seasons of Love.

This is a gift of love from this prolific poet. She gathered a bouquet of poems, selected from her vast treasure of writings. For Memorial Day: "We have come to trust completelyl in the power of man-made things; Unmindful of God's mighty power and that He is "King of Kings"... We have turned our eyes away from Him to go our selfish way, And money, power, and pleasure are the gods we serve today... And the good green earth God gave us to peacefully enjoy, Through greed and fear and hatred we are seeking to destroy... Oh, Father, up in heaven, stir and wake our sleeping souls, Renew our faith and lift us up and give us higher goals, nd grant us heavenly guidance as War threatens us again For, more than guided missiles, all the world needs guided men." It used to be labeled as Decoration Day when I was young, to decorate the graves of those we loved, especially the military casualties. Now, at my family cemetery, they have chosen Mother's Day so that folks don't have to come twice in one month to put flowers on their family's graves. Today's calamity of so many thousands of American young men and women are being slaughtered abroad for what reason? We know it is best to respect others' beliefs and follow the Ten Commandments. Wars have always been and always will be, but it does not have to be America leading the flock. The VFW always places small American flags on the U.S. soldiers' graves, while the Confederate casualties wait until June 3, on Jefferson Davis' birth date -- a good practice.
