An Author Worth Getting to Know

Splat's vulnerable personality and appealing appearance will win your heart! I've used this book with groups of 4 year olds and groups of 8 year olds and both classes quickly caught on to Splat's dilemma and personality. The older kids were immediately alert to Spike's role of the eogtistitical bully. The 4 year olds were captivated by Splat's repeated failure to match Spike. I bought both this and the other Splat book for my persoanl resources because I knew that these will be checked out frequently at our public library! I hope more Splat books are written!

Great Book for Valentine's Day

A very sweet story for Valentine's Day. My son and I bought this as a classroom gift for his Kindergarten teacher to read at their Valentine's Day party.

Great Book

My daughter (almost 3 years) and I have also read "Splat the Cat," but we prefer the sequel "Love, Splat." It is a funny story, about butterflies, love and of course hilarious kitty encounters. There are plenty of fun details for both kids and parents: - did you know that cats like fish bone wallpaper? - did you know that cats use a real toilet? - did you know that cats have mouse pets (riding bikes)? - did you know that the street names have real meaning? You can not but love Splat. He is perhaps a bit clumsy, but so adorable. My daughter loves his books and keeps asking for more. Now there you have it: a winner! I love the book because it never gets boring (even if you have to read it over and over). My daughter and I give it four thumbs up!

Another great "Splat" book!

Reviewed by Cayden (age 4) and Max (age 2) Aures and Mom for Reader Views (12/08) "Love, Splat" is the follow-up book to "Splat the Cat." In this book, it is Valentine's Day and Splat has made a very special Valentine for his crush Kitten. Splat liked her a lot but every time that Kitten saw him "she pulled his ears and poked his belly, tied his tail and called him smelly. Then she'd run away." Once Splat brings his Valentine to school he is dismayed to find out that another cat, Spike, likes Kitten too. Who will win Kitten's heart? Max: "Splat is a funny cat! I like cats!" Cayden: "I like Splat! We read a book about him before. He is the cat with the funny sticking up hair! The pictures in this book are funny. I liked when he was brushing his teeth, but I think he used way too much toothpaste! It was all foamy by his mouth. It was funny when he had toilet paper on his foot too and the mouse was riding on it!" Max: "Kitten pulled Splat's ears- ouch!" Cayden: "I don't think she pulled them that hard, but that isn't nice to do." Cayden: "I like this book. I want to read the other Splat book now too." Parent's comments: My children and I both love adorable little Splat. You can't help but smile every time you look at him! Like the first book, the storyline in "Love, Splat" by Rob Scotton is very humorous and the illustrations are wonderfully detailed. We look forward to more stories about Splat in the future!

Love that Splat

Splat returns in this lovely sequel. This book can easily be read as a stand alone. Splat has Valentine's Day card for all in his class especially one for Kitten. But wait, Spike like kitten too and his card is MUCH bigger. Splat loses hope but Kitten steps in with her card for Splat. There is not a large color palate here but it isn't necessary. Splat's emotions shine through and his big heart shows. This would be a good book to read to a young child.
