Love poetry in the Spanish Golden Age redefines the lyric poetry that is located at the centre of Imperial Spanish culture's own self-image and self-definition. Disengaging with biographical research and renegotiating Foucauld's epistemic break, this study opens up new horizons in interpretation in four major writers of the period: Garcilaso de la Vega, Herrera, G ngora and Quevedo.
