An Entertaining Reading

It is 1899 and Lilly Westbrook is spending the summer in Newport, Rhode Island, with her family. The wealthy follow strict quide lines and Lilly is bored of them. She has a secret and as the summer progresses it may come out and ruin her and her family. This is delightful reading and I cannot wait to get book 2 in the series.

Love on a Dime {Ladies of Summerhill}

I love a story that I can immediately delve into and read without having to understand every character reference or keep everyone straight. Love on a Dime is such a read. A great story about a young girl's dream but not being able to publicly display the talent that comes with said dream. Lilly seems to have it all but she wants/needs to write. Writing dime novels is not acceptable in her circle but interestingly enough reading "those" dime novels is acceptable. Having a double standard isn't the main theme of this book just the underlying theme that I saw. So, many times we have a talent but can't display it because others deem it unworthy. Lilly hides her authorship but people speak highly of the author Fannie Cole, Lilly's pen name. A wonderful, interesting read about secrets and romance. I ,also, loved the play on words in the title, "Love on a Dime"; hence, dime novels and love! Cara Lynn James presents us with a great 5 star read! *I reviewed this book for Thomas Nelson Publishing (BookSneeze)*

PHENOMENAL!

First of all I want to say about how the cover is amazing. The guy/girl that made it is a genius. So many book covers doesn't combine with the story, and the cover for "Love on a Dime" is absolutely flawless and really reflects on the book story. The girl is gorgeous, and I loved the house in the back, the clouds and everything. Love on a Dime is a divine and perfect book, I completely loved it. Loved how the story passes in 1899 in Newport, Rhode Island. I imagined everything in the very small details, including the clothes. Cara made me fall in love, and Lilly Westbrook is one of my favorites. She goes after her dream that is writing, and finds Jackson Grail, her new publisher. Love on a Dime is full of romance, which I love, and is so beautiful that we can't possible put away till we are done. Woman will be fascinated by it and guys will want to read it. I think Cara Lynn James made everything in the right temperature in her debut novel, and I can't wait to read more books of hers. I'm sure the Ladies of Summerhill will be forever in my head.

LOVE IT!!!

I could not set this book down! It is such a love story- normally I do not care for love stories but the time and setting of this story was so romantic! This book was very relaxing and I was lost in the pages before I knew it! Reading always makes me very sleepy but this one I just could not keep from turning the next page! I went through half the book in one night! This is a Christian Romance and very drawing. Sentimental and inspiring! I cannot wait until Cara's next book comes out "Love on Assignment". I really really like Amish stories and this one reminded me of that because of the time and setting yet the romance was just the twist to keep you on the edge wondering what might happen next and you just keep wishing something would happen and keep waiting for it... so you keep reading till you get to it. It is one of those!!

Wonderful Christian Historical Romance

I would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Cara Lynn James and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Love on a Dime" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me. Lately, I have been on an incredible streak of reading fantastic books! "Love On A Dime" by Cara Lynn James fits right into that fantastic category. This insanely delicious novel combines several elements that I absolutely adore: books, romance, an historical setting, and a bit of mystery. Lilly Westbrook has had her heart broken. The man she loved wouldn't fight for her. Rather than oppose her parents and seek to marry her, Jack walked away...presumably for Lilly's own good. Lilly Westbrook has a secret. She writes dime novels under a nom de plume. Lilly Westbrook has a dilemma. She's never gotten over Jack, but can she trust him enough to give him a second chance? Jackson Grail has regrets. He loved Lilly to pieces and wanted to marry her, but refused to take her away from her life of privilege to live like a pauper. Jackson Grail has changed. He is now well-off, a successful treasure-hunter-turned-businessman with a magazine and a newspaper and looking to purchase a publishing house. Jackson Grail still has a thing for Lilly. He desperately wants her back now that he can care for her in the proper style, but will Lilly give him that second chance he doesn't deserve? How will he woo her to win her heart once more? This is one of those books that you want to linger over and savor and at the same time, you desperately want to know what happens next! This is a novel that I will pull off of the self over and over again to enjoy. The first novel for James, I expect to see much more from her in the future!

"Love on a Dime" is a PERFECT 10!!!

Cara Lynn James is officially on my favorite author's list!!! What first drew me to this book was the cover- LOOK at it, it's GORGEOUS! Then, the fact that it's set in my home state (RI) well, I just had to read it! But gorgeous cover and state pride aside, this book was WONDERFUL! I normally tear right through a book in one day, but I chose instead to savor this one and join the Westbrook's for a leisurely summer season in beautiful Newport. Taking my time seemed like the right approach to this gentle, woo-your-heart love story. Lillian Westbrook is an unassuming beauty, strong in her convictions, and modest in her accomplishments who is tenderly pursued by Jackson Grail, the handsome, steadfast, humble hero. Apparently Cara is a "debut" novelist but her talents speak of a seasoned author!! She draws you into the story effortlessly, transporting you into the scenes with charming prose and great word imagery. With each word I could feel the mist from the powerful Atlantic cool my face in the afternoon sun, hear the ever-present soundtrack of the gulls as I took a relaxing stroll, and see all the breathtaking elegance and luxury that can only be described as Newport! Of course, we discover, along with the characters, that money can never buy happiness, earthly riches are fleeting, outer beauty without inner beauty is vain, and true love scripted by the original Author of romance will weather any storm! I also really appreciated her use of the KJV. I often find in historicals that many authors try to make sure everything else is historically accurate and overlook their translational use of the Bible- so props to Cara on that one. She truly weaved a deep faith, hope, and love for Christ in and throughout every page. Simply put, "Love on a Dime" is one of the best Christian romances I've had the privilege and pleasure of reading! I look forward with great anticipation for her next novel "Love on Assignment" due out early next year! Cara, God bless you sistah!!!
