The tale of a lonely woman who collects three small children...and the psychopath, himself a child, who stalks the woman and her bewildered brood, leaving behind him a trail of blood.
I read Lost when it first came out. I reread it again and again over the years and enjoy it just as much each time. The story is fantastic, and you find yourself holding your breath so much. The charecters are so real, even The Chinamen, the dog Sherman the crazy older brother hooks up with. I cried over him, the writing is so vivid. His descriptions of the surrounding enviornment is also very vivid. You can see everyting, within the charecters and around them. Don't want to give anything away. The other reviews here say much more. It's a fantastic book.

Lost Is Very Much responsible for my life long reading habit

Gary I know that you are dead but I just want to thank you for all that you have done for me. I found your book in the library in high school when our reading teacher began to make it manditory for us to read a 300 plus page book and do a report on it every six weeks. I was in very much distress having thought that a totally impossible feat. At that time 300 pages might has well been 3,000 it was just as unrealistic. I was 16 or 17 then and she took the class to the library and I began the grissy work of trying to find the small book that I could get away with something with picture. I found your book "Lost". I was floored. I had no idea that reading a book could give me so much pleasure and excitement. My whole behavior pattern changed then. My eyes were opened. I began to read everything in sight. I am now 24 and I have read hundreds of books History, Technical Manuals, Literature, Science, Phiosolgy. Gary you helped bring about this way of life that I and my children enjoy now. You could not have known that that little pulp fiction novel would transform a young boy and vastly improve his options and oppurtunity for him and all of his descendants. Thank You God Bless You. I have your Book On the Shelf and memorial to that most pivotal point in my life. Love You. My family and wife thanks You. I would not even know her or have had a chance with her or even be happy with her. My children will read and get an education and will read for answers in life. From my heart thank you.Raven

I first read this book when it came out. Months later, I couldn't find a copy to buy! I was finally able to get one from a used bookstore, and it was definitely worth the search! This is not like your typical thriller/horror books -- it's much better! I was so happy to see that Gary Devon has written a third book -- I was worried that LOST and BAD DESIRE (another good one, although I liked Lost better) were it!
