This is a great book about a boy named Neil. His mother and father runs a kennel where they keep dogs and put them up for adoption. New neighbors settle in to an old barn next to the the kennel. The old neighbors left because the house had caught on fire. The neighbor has two kids. The mother of the house hates dogs but was in a big shock when she found out that her kids has been hiding a puppy and is now sick. It was a good thing that the kennel had a local vet that is a friend of them. At the vets office the mother tells Neil why she is so scared of dogs. Later that day when they were driving back when they got back to the kennel, Neil put the dog on her laps. When the family got back they were glad to see their mother finally not be scared of a dog and would touch a dog.
