Great Encouragement to Believe in the God of the Impossible

"Lord of the Impossible" is a great read and encouragement for those who want to see God work great and mighty things in their lives. The book is around 230 pages and 20 chapters on such Old Testament characters as: 1. Abraham 2. Jacob 3. Moses 4. Joshua 5. Gideon 6. Ruth (would have to liked to have seen more examples of women) 7. Samuel 8. David 9. Elijah 10. Jeremiah There are also other characters covered by Olgivie. Each chapter is around 10-15 pages and focuses on a particular Old Testament character who experienced the power of God in their life. The only criticism I have is that I would have liked to have seen more women (Esther and Rahab come to mind) in the book. Complaint aside, the book is an enjoyable and encouraging title that challenges the reader to let God work in his/her life as God sees fit. Highly recommended!

Exceptional, Wonderfully Encouraging Book!

With stunning clarity and awesome insightfulness Ogilvie uses biblical characters to help illustrate God's timeless promises -that NOTHING is impossible for Him (thus Ogilvie helps people rekindle their faith and "press on through" life's difficulties to achieve glorious new experiences of "possible indeed, after all - with God's loving presence/involvement always available!" Even though this is an "80s" book it still rivals the most popular "new century" books in terms of timeless classy-but-accessible ease of use and present day applicability. I read it for the first time in November, 2005, and immediately began recommending it to friends and those seeking counseling to persevere in the face of otherwise overwhelming challenges. This book is essentially "a kiss and a hug from God!" Quite simply, it is hope, alive. Blessings to Ogilvie for sharing this treasure!

He really is the Lord of the Impossible

I read, Lloyd John Ogilvie's book, "Lord of the Impossible", my freshman year of college. What really impressed me about this book was how Ogilivie was able to bring God "alive" today. Moses, Joseph, David, etc. all had difficult tasks at hand, but by allowing God to be in control the impossible became possible. Not only that, but we today, when having a difficult time can put our lives in God's loving hands and He will never fail us.
