Longarm #78

This review for volume # 78 also applies to all of Tabor Evans books. He researches the subjects of his stories and gives you in depth detail of the subject. If it is indians he will describe the tribe, how they react with others, whether they are war like, etc. If the story involves mining, you will l know a lot about that subject when you are finished with the story. The same goes for logging, ranching, whore houses or what ever the subjects about.Longarm is a Deputy US Marshal out of the Denver office and he gets assignments to all the western states. His name is Custis Long nicknamed Longarm because he's the long arm of the law.The ladies have another reason gor refering to him as longarm.Yes he gets a lot of bedroom action dipping his organ grinder into a gals ring dang do.His words, not mine. His escapades in the sac only take up a page or two,two or three times in the book and I skip over them now Iv'e read so many of them I know whats going to take place. There is good humor interspursed throughout the book. His stories are more tongue in cheek than Louis Lamours or Elmer Keltons but I enjoy them. Now the sad part.Somewhere around issue 175 they started farming out the writing to other authors and it was pathetic. Most did a good job but I also got some that I couldn't finish they were so bad. They changed his character entirely. They must be close to voloume 400 now. The last one I bought was volume 345 and it was so bad I didn't get any more. So far Iv'e found the Longarm giant books, the ones with no issue number seem to be pretty good.Tabor Evans started this series in the 70s so I doubt he's still writing but his name still appears as author. If youv'e never read one try one of the issues from 1 to 150 and I think you'll like it.
