Running from the past...

Beth Lindstrom and her daughter Sophie are running from someone but have no idea what her dead husband did that they are paying for. They find themselves trying to renovate an old café in the small town of Lone Wolf, Texas. Turning the café around and selling it is their only hope of survival in Beth's eyes. They need to get back on their feet and find a home where they can somehow again feel safe. Joel McAllen is running from his own demons and finds himself helping with repairs on his uncle's veterinarian practice next door to the café. He isn't sure he trusts Beth, but he finds himself drawn to her - and wanting to know what demons chased her into town. LONE STAR LEGACY is a novel packed with drama. The flight into town and the drama that Beth must deal with in order to survive show her to be a strong woman. When she finally leans on Joel, he becomes her knight in shining armour. The action makes this a fast read, albeit a very emotional one. Sophie may be a young kid, but her actions and reactions in this story make the drama even more intense, and knowing her life is at stake makes this an deep read. Roxanne Rustand is a talented author with many great novels under her belt. This novel left little to be desired, but yet just did not resound with this reader. It contained all of the elements of great romantic suspense, yet just was not a stick with you forever novel. As a reader, I love to connect with the heroine AND the hero, but somehow Joel remained aloof and did not quite meet the standards of a book by Ms. Rustand. Review Courtesy of LoveRomancesandmore
