Doc Ericson has just started a llama farm, north of Peabody, Wisconsin, and he asks Penny, Jack, and Scruggs to help out. As soon as they get there, however, strange things begin to happen. Who let... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I have come to realize that this is #5 in a series, but that made no difference to me when I read the book. I felt right at home with the characters as though I've known them for a while now. This is a story of a ten year mystery finally being exposed... it's about telescopes spying on you.. it's about working as a team... and most importantly... it's about LLAMAS! Penny and her friends have started volunteering weekends on a llama farm. Who knows what exciting things will happen? It is a great read! If you like fun books, and llamas.. you'll enjoy it!
A good book

This book is part of a series. It has a good plot and good morals. The rest of the series is good too. I would recommend it for 5-7th graders although older grades may enjoy them too.

Penny Derwood arrives home one day to find a truck in her parents' driveway. In the back is a strange animal. Is it a camel? Penny soon discovers that it is a Llama (spelled with two "L"s) and that her owners, Doc and Mrs. Ericson, have a whole farm of them. Part of the Ericson's permit for the farm makes it necessary for them to make it educational, and what better way than to have kids come and help out? Soon Penny, Jack, Jean, and their friend Scruggs start spending their weekends at the llama farm. There is plenty to be done. What with training one llama to pull a pony cart, and chasing another into town, trying to figure out how to share their faith with the Ericsons, and playing flashlight tag in the pasture at night, there is hardly time for investigation the strange happenings that continually disrupt the farm.
