The Holy Spirit

I had a lot of questions about the Holy Spirit. In this book, Chuck Smith so clearly defines and explains who the Holy Spirit is, what He does, and how He can work in my life. I am so thankful to have a Comforter to come alongside me and to empower me! If you don't think you truly understand the Holy Spirit, or if you want to learn how to have a more victorious walk, read this book. You won't regret it.

God Himself

Here's an excerpt from this book: "The Holy Spirit is God Himself, a Person with whom you can enjoy a personal relationship. He is a Person who can speak to you and to whom you can speak. He is a Person who can guide you, who can help you, who can strengthen you, who can teach you the truth of God. The Holy Spirit is the agent through whom God works today in the world, within the church and in the lives of individual believers. That is why we need to become acquainted with the Holy Spirit." This book will certainly help you get to know God and the ways of God through the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit is real...the Bible tells me so.

So many people either take the Holy Spirit too lightly, in that they would believe that He is not working today, or they go wild and misrepresent what God is truly doing at a specific place and time. Chuck Smith gives the biblical description of the Holy Spirit and how He is moving today, even in and through your life.

What is the Holy Spirit, really?

Chuck Smith does an excellent job in explaining exactly Who the Holy Spirit is, and His purpose in your life. I highly recommend to anyone who has never fully grasped full understanding. Best of all, Chuck Smith backs up what he writes with Scripture and uses simplistic analogies and examples to help you understand--whether you're a kid or have read the Bible for over 50 years. This would be great for a pastor or anyone in clergy to teach their congregations!

Great for a basic Biblical primer on the Spirit.

I picked this one up after spending one semester in a Baptist/Dispensational/Calvinist-leaning Bible school (and promptly went elsewhere afterwards) -and I found it a breath of fresh air! Until one goes from charismatic circles that place no limit on God's power to a school that seems to fear even the most moderate expressions of the "charismata", it's hard to truly fathom the differences in the "lenses" whith which we bring to God's truth. Some have felt that Chuck Smith, due to his opposition to extreme "Charismania" isn't even charismatic himself. Let me tell you, Chuck Smith believes in miracles- this book is proof! You have to have been where I have been to see that reality. It's great to know in a world where the current march towards Baptistic/Calvinistic theology, which threatens to leave the church holding to no higher level of faith than the unbelieving culture around us, there are still solid, Bible-believing men such as Pastor Chuck willing to hold to the truths of the "power" that ignites the church to do the work of God. Read his accounts of miracles he himself has encountered. Read what the Bible says about the work of the Spirit in your life -and be encouraged. This would have been 5 stars, if not for a "tangent" that Pastor Chuck goes into about the "end times." Also, I disagree with his assertion that we "don't become more like Christ by imitation". But other than that, I would much rather have people reading this than a lot of theologies out there. For deeper exploration of Biblical truths on the Spirit, read Clark Pinnock or Gordon Fee. For a great primer on the Spirit, get this. Well worth it!
