Book Overview

From Holly Chamberlin, author of Tuscan Holiday and Summer Friends, comes a witty, insightful novel chronicling a year in one woman's quest to find love, joy--and herself. . .

At twenty, singlehood is a lifestyle choice. At thirty-two, it starts to feel like an affliction. Erin Weston has a rewarding PR career, loyal friends, and a wonderful Boston condo. But in between weekend brunches, farmers' market forays, and dinners in Cambridge and the South End, Erin can't shake the sense that something's missing. The traditional ideal--husband, house, clothing-coordinated children--once seemed too obvious, and pride in her accomplishments doesn't keep the loneliness at bay. Now, ready to venture into uncharted territory, Erin is going to claim the life she thinks she wants. And in the process, she might just figure out exactly what--and who--she really needs. . .

Very fun read!

I have the shortest attention span, so when I found I couldn't peel myself off of the sofa to put this book down, I knew it was a good read. It is a fun book, and has some very entertaining characters. I've passed it through all my girlfriends and recommended it to everyone known! If you haven't picked up a copy yet, do so now!

An author to watch

I highly recommend this book. Once you start it, you won't put it down. I'm anxiously waiting to read her next novel.

Sex and a Different City

Holly Chamberlin's hip debut novel has all the essential chick lit elements: gabby girlfriends, can't trust 'em boyfriends, fashion, cocktails, gossip, advice, and a glamorous urban backdrop. After reading (and writing) my share of women's fiction set in Manhattan, I found that the Boston setting in Living Single was a nice change of pace. But this novel is universal in the sense that women everywhere, urban and not, single and not, will be able to relate to Erin and her friends. Holly Chamberlin's dialogue rings as true as everything else in this tale--this is how real women talk, and feel, and behave. Though the characters crave coupledom, ultimately, this is a worthy celebration of living single.

Fun, Fun Fun Living Single is a Fun Read & Look Inside

Finally a FUN read for women who are not 70+++ Well, maybe single guys should read it too and learn a few clues. We have all been there only Living Single is more fun and true than Sex in the City....I mean it's not always as glamourous as HBO but Chamberlin at least makes it entertaining AND real.If you are sick of Carrie and friends----read this now! And feel good about being Single or having once been with good friends.

go Erin!

I loved spending a year in Boston with Erin and her girlfriends! She has really captured the way women talk to each other with no boys around, as well as the unique and irreplaceable ways in which we are supportive to each other. Very revealing of how this society makes us feel as single women in our thirties (pariahs) and how we might see our way to breaking free of this insane prejudice. Plus, it was a very fun read:)!
