This book is a very helpful tool when dealing with divorce. It explains that you are not alone, other women have gone through the exact same feelings and anguish you are going through. The author explains the stages you go through when dealing with such an emotional and drastic life change. This book does not criticize or belittle you for the mistakes you have made and will make in dealing with your children. The author talks openly and honestly with you as though you were best friends. She tells you that what you are going through is normal behavior and usually you are inadvertantly hurting your kids with your normal behavior, so she gives you suggestions on how to correct that. She discusses visitation and explains why you need to work with your exhusband even though you don't want to. She honestly wants what's best for you and your kids and tells you how to achieve it. The advice on lawyers and divorce law is a bit dated, but still informative for someone who has never been through a divorce before. This chapeter will give you great insight into the kinds of questions you need to ask your lawyer, how to find a lawyer and how to deal with your lawyer. There are chapters on dating, re-marrying, breaking up with your first boyfriend after the divorce, how to stretch a dollar, get a job, deal with your inlaws, etc. All are very helpful to get you throught the emotional and exhausting time after your break up with your husband. This book is written in everyday language, as though you were talking with a friend. I read this book over and over every time I need to get through a particularly difficult day. It really helps. A definite must read if you are separated or going through a divorce.
