The lively little rabbit

I had my mother read me this book over and over when I was little. I still remember the illustration and used to know the text by heart. I'm not sure that the book itself merits such love--but in my 5-year-old memory it was wonderful! I loved the cute but detailed illustrations and the clever, nonviolent way that the little rabbit outwits a hungry fox. I don't know how such an old book became a bedtime ritual for me (my mother probably read it when she was little) but it is one of my earliest, fondest memories of story and illustration.
