Live Free or Die

I thought this book was great, it displayed details of a New England life and had a story that made it hard to put down. It was a modern Romeo and Juliet but with out the all around tragety in the end of both lovers dieing.

Not Another Romeo and Juliet!

If you want to read a sappy, cliche' packed love story ending in tragedy, then Live Free or Die is not the one for you. Ernest Hebert wrote a believable story about two "star-crossed" lovers who DON'T take their own lives. It captures the independent character of New Englanders through Frederick, Lilith, and so many more Derby locals. Live Free or Die, is the motto for many of the people of Darby, yet few actually believe and live by it. The ones that do, take it too far. Or do they? All in all Hebert has written a bold New England novel that anyone can relate to. He ties it to New England through specifics, yet I believe that anyone, anywhere can pick up the book and love it!

Very Entertaining and Touching

Ernest Hebert did a great job in the novel Live Free or Die. I think it was a very touching story. The relationship that forms between Frederick and Lilith was captivating. It made me read more becasue is was a nice love story. The ending sort of shocked me a little I was not really expecting what happened.I think the most important thing on the book was the characters. The way the author went in depth on the characters made the story even better and easier to enjoy. It was a very easy read and It did catch my attention. Once I picked the book up It was impossible to put it back down until the end.One thing I really liked was the way in which the author described Frederick's drive up to New Hampshire. The way in which he mentioned the scenery and how he named the routes and the polls and all that. It was great, I could relate so much because I drive through these routes so it was like, "oh I know what you are talking about." I also enjoyed the book becasue I liked the way in which the author spoke about not only Frederick's and Lilith's relationship, but also Frederick's and his father or him and his mother. Once again the characterization was great.Another thing was the way in which the character spoke about "Live Free or Die," the van. This is such a big example of the character's feelings and way of living not only that, but also the loneliness and the desperation of the characters to find themselves was great. I can sort of relate to them because going into my senior year of College is like wow, what is next I want to live like that just pick up and go whenever I want to. i can relate somewhat to Lilith and how she came home and all these things were happening is scary, real life is scary.I enjoyed the book very much and I recommend it to everyone.

New England Love Story

This was a great book. Location Darby, New Hampshire is a beatiful setting for the book. This book really connects the lives of the character with the nature and wildlife around them. It brings back the Transcendentalist era. Everyone should walk through the great outdoors to find out who they truly are. The main characters in this book are from completly different sides of town. They shouldn't be seen with each other and end up falling in love. It really gives hope that love finds it way through every kind of relationship. It goes with the old saying "opposites attract".

Excellent Book

I thought the book was very good. It was a very fast read. The descriptions of nature were awesome. Even if the reader did not live in New Hampshire, he/she would have a great sense of the area. The story line was easy to follow, and very interesting. Everyone loves a good love story. However, the ending was a shock to me, and I didn't really like it. My favorite part was the point of view of the mother bear, it made the book interesting. There were so many different points of view. All in all, the book was an excellent read. Very Entertaining. I would recommend it to my friends.
