Of the many children's prayer books and Bible-story books we've bought over the years, this is the best. Yes, we have two others in this series, and like them very much as well. (I plan to get the the "Prayers of Praise" when I can.) The family is in thankful agreement with the underlying theology of all three books, demonstrated by the use of the words "Jesus" and "Savior." (Sharing a beautiful book entitled _______ is calling for some effort on our part as we attempt to mitigate what we perceive to be weak-to-poor theology in a few of the prayers. Children do learn...oh my, do they ever learn...) The previous reviewer would probably have better luck getting her active boys to sit still for this book had they gotten to hear it from infancy onward. Perhaps they'd listen even now if it were used as a bedtime book to help them wind down for the night. (Never mind that some of the prayers greet the morning! At bedtime, one could skip those for the literal-minded child.) These rhythms and rhymes are like music. We help create a taste for such riches when we introduce them to our children lovingly, at as early an age as possible. Our family highly recommends this series. Even the simplest of these Classic Children's Prayers carry a depth of meaning which is at least as apropos to me, the grandparent, as they are for those little listeners beside me.
