Listening Prayer

I know this is not a book that has been recently written, but it's one of those books that is truly timeless. Full of wisdom and instruction, it has made a major impact, not only in my life, but in the lives of others I've shared it with. A definite 5 out of 5 stars!

When God speaks, are you in a position to listen? Have you been able to focus your thoughts on the one true and dependable source of direction in our lives? If you answered yes to these questions, you are among an ever increasing group who once lost in the crowd, and following their own means of navigation through life have begun to rely on the word of God. It began as a tiny point of light that began to illuminate their troubled lives as it grew larger and brighter. As it grew, it became more and more difficult to ignore until it became so constant, so deliberate in its' presence from day to day that it eventually became the singular most important feature in every decision that would be made from then on. His light is always there. It glows with unwavering consistency and with the promise of what can be if we can free our hearts, minds and souls from following our senses, continually seeking out new dimensions, instant answers and that age old, self-serving, personal gratification. The nature of man has never been to admit dependency. By design, he must do it alone. Can you imagine how many missed appointments during the history of the world could have been made on time and the difference this may have made in the eventual turn of events which for some reason became worthy of record? If only man had stopped to ask directions. If only he had known that the answers were much more important than the questions. Where would we all be today? Can you think of a situation where you failed to be on time? Can you imagine how things may have been except for the few minutes, hours or days which passed while you were focussed on something else, while someone waited, while minds were changed or when alternate decisions were made? Small stuff in our minds, right? Imagine though, the impact on the rest of world history if that light, from that star, which positioned itself over the birthplace of Jesus, had never shone. Would the wise men of the east have found Jesus? Would the event have been recorded in all of its' glory as we know it? Would anyone have known or even cared that Gods' special gift was arriving. A gift which would change the face of history and all to come from that day forward. In todays world, seldom is there a moment in which the calm and peaceful state of silence may be enjoyed, however often we may seek it. The world rushes on. The days become little more than a blurr and the many times we try to get in touch with our inner-selves well up inside of us bringing torment and anguish as we struggle to deal with yet another reason why we are failing in our efforts to keep up with the continuous excelleration of our society. But wait! Is that a light? It seems to grow as I watch it. Can it be that the guiding light of the one true God is yet hovering over the spirit of His Son? Is it possible that the guide-post of our lives is still out there to show us the way? If you believe
