dBASE may be a footnote in the shadow of modern DB tools such as Oracle and mySQL, but Liskin's hefty tome still offers a great deal to the reader just beginning relational database work or the working database professional. Stepping away from the physical database itself, the book still provides an incredible trove of information in relational theory and Structured Query Language (SQL) along with a sense of the author's commitment to detail. To this writer, Liskin's work certainly qualifies her as a member in the pantheon on DB gurus like Ted Codd, C.J. Date, Scott Ambler and Jim Gray and a well worn copy of this title should be prominent on every database practitioners bookshelf.
