Liquid Light of Sex: Understanding Your Key Life Passages

I own several other books by Barbara and while I admire them and aspire to understand them I've found them a bit heady for me...I'll open, flip through, glean some wonderful information until my brain hurts and then put them down for a while. ;) This book is a whole other story...I devoured this when I was finally ready to read it. On the advice of a total stranger I met over a year ago I'd purchased the book and simply tossed it aside at the time, obviously not ready yet. I feel as though books just call out to you when there's something you need to know. That happened with this book recently when I was experiencing the most uncharacteristic dark energy that seeemed to be taking over. I've always been this beacon of laughter, light and joy and don't buy into the whole "midlife crisis" whining so that wasn't a generalization I would give any power to at all. I'm glad I stuck to my guns on that one because this book explains the positive and empowering aspect of not only the energy I'm coming into now, but the major life transitions at 30ish and in the 50s as well. So it covers 3 key transitions. As someone who has practiced and taught Kundalini yoga for a while and studied astrology since childhood, this book speaks my language. And it does so in a way that made me feel excited and powerful, not mournful or lost, as I see so many others feeling when they approach this energy. I'd honestly like to give this to everyone I know because it does cover such an inclusive range of life experiences. Even reading about what was happening when I was in that Saturn return stage at around age 30 made some things click. I find knowledge helpful even in hindsight, where it can still become wisdom in action. Sometimes I wish this had a different title because I think it can put people off when they mistakenly assume it's just about something physical and sexual...this is so much more than that. This is a ray of sanity and pure light during times when things might seem like utter chaos. I highly recommend this book to anyone in their 30s, 40s or 50s who is finding that they are experiencing some transitions that might be overwhelming, baffling, intimidating or downright daunting. This dispels some fear-based myths and brings you into a space of understanding, self love and pure power.

Contrary to the title, this book really has to do with transits of Uranus & Neptune in your chart and life. Don't be scared by the title or the author; this is a worthwhile read for people wanting to understand mid-life crises.

I'm 51 now. I've been watching people grow for 20 years in my practice. This woman, Barbara Hand Clow, has it DOWN about the big transitions that create a true human being. She's also an astute and intuitive astrologer, and you'll pick up some insights there, too.

Since 1977, when I first began my "official" metaphysical journey, I have been a student and now instructor of astrology, numerology and metaphysics. I found Barbara's first book on Chiron/Rainbow Bridge, most insightful and helpful when I was directly experiencing Chiron's influence. It was one of the first books I reached for in my time of Kundalini Crisis. During my recent personal Kundalini Crisis/ Spiritual Emergence, I discovered her most recent book, Liquid Light of Sex. (It practically jumped into my hands.) I felt she was writing to me and for me. I deeply experienced much of what she was explaining and have, as a result of reading her book, been able to assist myself and others much more efficiently in their jouney. As as long time student of astrology, I have felt as she did, that Chiron was a significant discovery and have found her descriptions and explanations easy to follow and quite in alignment with my own experience and observations of numerous friends, family and client charts. I have also found that much of what she explains is also mirrored and supported in other books such as Pluto Vol II by Jeffrey Wolf Green, Sexual Energy & Yoga by Elisabeth Haich, Kundalini Rising by Barbara Condron, Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith and several of Dr. Heather Anne Harder's books, just to name a few. As a student of Eastern philosophies, I too believed the "warnings" put forth in the traditional yogic philosophies re: raising the Kundalini without the guidance of a skilled teacher. I was not looking for, nor did expect to have such an incredible experience this lifetime, HOWEVER, I did, and so have many others, spontaneously. I did not have the benefit of a teacher, I relied heavily on books such as this one. I have recommended this book to many and astrologically, I value her research/insight into this oft overlooked influence in the chart. A "must have" addition for professional and amateur astrologers (or novices) libraries & knowledge banks!

This unique work is 10-15 years ahead ot its time. Explanations of key life transits and sequence of events explain how, why, and WHEN, we experience many of life's lessons and challanges. Though the writing is mystical at times, she relates a profound truth. She also breaks new ground. Mr. Williams (previous) review confirms that her work is shaking up the old school of dangerously closed-minded New Agers. Thank heavens! New ideas must often come from outside the fields caged by "distinguished insiders." Learned experts have reputations which keep them in fear of being wrong and stuck in old traditions which are no longer appropriate for this stage of human evolution. Busting this group soul ego is the task of the Pluto in Leo generation. Barbara's wide field of knowledge is a great service in evolution of consciousness. We are living in an age where generalists are the great thinkers. She knows what she is talking about. I've experienced it. Its reality to me.
