IRP REVIEW BY E. PRADO * 5 PERIOD

REVIEW For my IRP, I chose to read 'Lindsay Lohan - The IT Girl Next Door' by Lauren Brown. I chose to do my IRP on Lindsay Lohan because I am a huge fan of her acting. My all-time favorite movie is Mean Girls and Lindsay Lohan plays the main character, Cady Herron, in the film! In this biography, Brown makes sure to keep her overall tone of the book very casual and basic. I learned many details about Lohan in just about every chapter. Did you know that Lindsay was born Lindsay Dee Lohan but later changed her name to Lindsay Morgan Lohan? Brown continues to add quirky, fun facts throughout the entire book. I was amazed at how Lohan always loves to have many things in common with the roles she plays in the movies. Lohan actually states that she "only plays characters" she can "relate to," which definitely seems to be the case so far! This book was very inspirational in many different ways. There are tons of tips from Lohan and Brown given to the reader during the book on steps Lohan took to becoming the huge movie star that she is today. My favorite parts of the book were mainly all of the new things I learned during the book. `Lindsay's Lohan - The IT Girl Next Door' was broken up into eighteen chapters, all filled with great detail and zest! The beginning of the book talks mainly about her childhood, pastimes, modeling, and acting. I loved how they gave me distinctive facts about Lohan that just stuck in my head. Did you know Lindsay Lohan was the first redheaded model with the Ford Modeling Agency? Each chapter also focuses on main things during Lohan's life. There is even an entire chapter dedicated to the ever so popular `Huff with Hilary Duff' about the allegations that both girls were dating pop star Aaron Carter. There were a few things I disliked about the book but the main thing was definitely the reading level of the book. I did not feel like I was being challenged throughout the story at all. I felt like the biography was meant for a middle school student, not a high school. I also thought that I was tricked into reading the book because the reading level clearly stated eighth through twelfth grade. There were also a lot of things that I think should have been left out, like the last four chapters could have been turned into one chapter. The fifteenth chapter talks about astrology and Lohan being a cancer (just like me!), and the sixteenth talks about numerology. The seventeenth chapter is a thirty question `pop quiz' on Lohan and the eighteenth and final chapter is just a list of websites to surf. Overall, I think that book was mediocre. I felt that they could have used better words, but would be, once again, perfect for a middle school aged child. I recommend this book despite not receiving its full 5 stars to anyone. It is a great book to educate people on celebrities and also to help people get a better point of view of how life really is in the lime-light twenty-four seven.

ULTIMATE FOR LINDSAY FANS

THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ALL LINDSAY FANS! If you don't have this on your book shelf, you're missing out. And the author, Lauren Brown, is a very talented writer!
