I first read about this story several years ago in a Sports Illustrated article and was instantly interested in the sport, and this couple's story. The book provides alot of details/history on both, and includes a good deal of pictures. I thought it was a beautiful, tragic story. The sport of freediving is incredible, and of course carries risks, as do many extreme sports-which is why I think we are drawn to them. I loved this book.

This book was amazing and inspiring. First, it talks about Pippin's background. Then it goes into the history of free-diving, for those not normally interested it. Finally, you get to meet Audrey, the love of his life. I don't want to give away the ending, but it's very sad. Don't read the rest of my review if you haven't read it yet :-) I hate how everyone blames Pippin for what happened. It's honestly not his fault. His wife died doing something she loved, and I don't think she could have been more happier. I wish Pippin would get back into diving...the sport needs him. The book is a fast-paced, inspiring read...I recommend it to you.

I really liked the book, because of the interesting topic. While I read the book I was fascinated by this sport and its dangers. I mean, imagine that these divers descend to 170 meters with just one breath of air...that is unbelievable. He started directly into the exciting story without any explanation and he finished the first chapter with the sentence: "So I went down to find my wife." He did not tell the readers if she is dead or not. After I have read the first chapter I loved reading it until the sad end. I cannot imagine the feeling of diving into the dark blue sea with one breath that you have to hold on for about five minutes. But I think it is overwhelming! They are alone and can feel free... In the end I want to say you: Read it by yourself you will not regret it =) =) It is one of the best books I've ever read....

I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. I thought this was a wonderful book. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. What a tragic story! I myself have done some diving, but freediving is something I only see others doing. What a crazy sport. For a fun/entertaining read, I'd highly recommend this book.
