A Gem

I read this book my Nancy Hale several years ago and it is still on my bookshelf. Nancy was the daughter of New England painter parents, and was herself an excellent writer, good enough to write for the New Yorker. Hale was descendant of Nathan Hale, and it is clear she moved in different circles in New York because of her blue blood background, but she gives insight into a bygone age.(Hale was born at the turn of the last century and died several years ago). This book is a series of introspective stories on her life and her relationship with her parents. Hale's intelligence and light irony are pleasure to read.
