Even though this book is from the 1970's, it is the best book I've ever seen about life in the rural U.S. In addition, most information in the book is still very relevant. The details the book provides about everyday people and their lives is very interesting. Of course, as is true with most National Geographic books, the photography is excellent as well. The only thing I noticed that has significantly changed is that there is a higher standard of living in Mississippi now. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in this subject.
