Good recipes, no pics, no nutritional info, still good to have.

This cookbook focuses on home cooking. It's not hours of shopping and chopping to get one Sunday meal on the table, it's using tips and easy to find ingredients to make tasty, healthful meals. I made the Spring Chicken Soup and it was just delicious. I regularly make this over a weekend and then we'll have it a couple of nights during the week. These recipes aren't necessarily quick cooking, there's no guarantee to get dinner on the table in under 30 minutes. A good one for that is The Family Dinner Fix: Cooking for the Rushed. This one focuses on "home cooked" meals that will cause you to want to Eat In. This book does use bottled tomato sauces, mayonnaise in a jar, canned chicken and beef broths, frozen vegetables, coleslaw from the deli, and so on and so forth. This cookbook also relies heavily on using the microwave. I've also made the Chicken Salad Bombay many times and have taken it to many a picnic bringing home an empty bowl everytime. The shortcut is to use leftover chicken. I do this regularly when I'm cooking chicken breasts, I'll cook 4-6 extra, eat what I need for that night and then freeze the extra cooked breasts for recipes like this when I need it. I've been using the Reynolds Handi-vac freezer bags with great success. There's been absolutely no freezer burn. The Pasta Puttanesca is a family favorite in our family and I'm sure will be in yours as well. Their recipe calls for using anchovy fillets but you can skip them if you'd prefer. The Caribbean grilled Chicken and Pineapple Salsa was delish. The downside of this cookbook? There are no pictures. The pages are matte so spills will not wipe off. There is no nutritional information provides nor food exchanges. Also, there are no prep or cook times prelisted. You have to read the whole recipe to figure out if this is a 30 minute meal or a two hour meal. That's frustrating in making these recipes the authors could have added that tidbit of information with no extra effort. They're all great recipes, I never found a bad one. You can't go wrong with this cookbook especially from the other sellers for a penny. Just write in the prep times and cook times as you make the recipe. The pages are easy to write notes on as they aren't coated. If you want a better cookbook with the same purpose try Kitchen Coach: Weeknight Cooking. It has pictures and coated pages so it will withstand the test of time.

Wow - Let's Eat !

We've been throught this book many times after getting it at an "odd lot" store that was dumping it. On a lark and for only five bucks, it's turned out the be THE book for us. Now, 9 years after its publication, relatives are looking for copies and the just don't exist!

delicious, easy recipes; not a dud in the bunch

my husband and i have prepared approximately one quarter of the recipes in this fantastic book, and they have all been great! none of the recipes are particularly hard to make; some of them are very quick and easy. the book presents a combination of simple fare, such as chili, steak sandwich with grilled onions, and sausage and rice soup, to more interesting dishes, such as lemon sesame chicken, pork medallions with pears, and a red pepper soup that is marvelous. outstanding value
