Angela Hunt's tagline is "Expect the unexpected." I do, yet she continues to surprise me. And this taut, intriguing mystery is no exception. Hunt's understated prose draws the reader into Briley's, Erin's, and Antonio's world--then tilts it, inviting news perspectives, allowing new insights. The story unfurls with masterful precision, early clues barely breathed into the story with such subtlety Sherlock Holmes would have difficulty catching them. An exceptional read.

Another winner from Hunt

I have been an Angela Hunt fan for several years now, but she still has the capacity to amaze me with her range of topics, her depth of research and her insight on any chosen subject. This latest effort, however, has taken her writing deeply into the realm of mystery, and one would think she'd been writing in this venue for a long time. Even being well-trained to "expect the unexpected" from Ms. Hunt, I was kept on tenterhooks as I devoured this book in a day. I hope that she continues to write books of this genre. She certainly has the talent and the capabilities for spinning a mysterious and exciting story. Bringing the reader to a place of understanding details of the investigation ... giving a little here, and withholding a little there ... she discloses just enough in each chapter to have the reader anxious for more and unable to stop reading until the conclusion. And, as so often happens with her books, this one, too, has sent me to the Internet for more information about some particular subject matter. It's my way of not letting the story end, which always happens way too soon with an Angela Hunt book!

Brilliant and Captivating

I always eagerly anticipate a new Angela Hunt book, and this one does not disappoint. Riveting from the opening sentence, the story only becomes more gripping as it progresses. Rich and masterfully developed characters stirred animosity, sympathy, and a variety of other emotions as I read. The novel's multiple layers and angles reflect Angela Hunt's extensive research process without becoming heavy and academic. I could not put this book down and my lamp burned late until I finished reading. As Hunt's website tagline warns, I've learned to "Expect the Unexpected" with her books, and once again, the surprising twist made me think & ponder its impact long after I turned the last page.

FANTASTIC!

Thank you to Mira Publishing for my copy of this new legal suspense novel by my favorite author who once again produces a book with an unexpected twist. It's typical Angela Hunt: fantastic! Briley Lester, a frustrated criminal attorney who once envisioned making a positive difference in the world, has become weary of defending guilty criminals. Now she has a huge first-degree murder case dropped into her lap. To make matters worse, she has never tried a murder case; indeed, all of her cases have been low level ones. Does her firm want her to lose? Erin Tomassi, the widow of a state senator, stands accused of his murder. All the evidence is stacked against her, and everyone--even this reader sees her as guilty. Yet as the plot unfolds, opinions change. Could she be innocent? Angela Hunt takes this impossible case and creates some courtroom drama. This is no Perry Mason novel; this is based on potential possibilities. This author always educates. The writing is first-person narrative and flows. Pages almost turn by themselves. I would enjoy staying in touch with the characters. I do hope to see Briley Lester in another novel. Be sure to grab this one for a good read.

rip-roarin' good read

I was delighted when my copy of Let Darkness Come arrived in the mail - I have come to expect to be satisfied with Angela Hunt's adept prose and thoughtful story telling, and this book was no exception. I had read that there was a surprise ending, so I spent a lot of the book trying to out-think the author, and see what was coming - I was completely unable to do it. I will be giving this book to people for Christmas. Thoroughly researched, engagingly written, this book is well worth the time and money you will spend on it.
