Leica Manual: The Complete Book of 35mm Photography

First published in 1935, when Leica was still the best, but there were fewer choices in brands! Scores of chapters by various professional photographers cover the usual lighting, developing, films, infrared, specializing in B/w, telephotography, motorized shooting, portraits, composition, etc. Many sections specialize in Leicas, which is great: how to handle a Leica, take care of it and keep it running smoothly, history, how it changed photography, as a collectible, and other good stuff. On semi-gloss thick paper, a very large fat book. There is a section of color photos, but more amazing b/w ones, some classic, and some contemporary. One made me burst out laughing! Highly recommended.
