Legacy

Smth has taken a break from writing about the spy world and written a moving and literate thriller. Having read his other books, I was not surprised by the presence of the twist and turns in this tale but I was still unprepared for where they took me. The ending is pretty much unguessable. The premise, based on the existence of a tycoon's long lost son being left a fortune is interesting if somewhat unoriginal but the pace of story ensures the reader is not distracted by such detail and the depth of the characters is absorbing (with the exception of working class bit part players, who suffer from shallow dialogue syndrome). The exceptionally thorough research gives Legacy a convincingly atmospheric backdrop and ensures that the reader feels thay are really on the trail of the lost child. I don't want to spoil the story for future readers (of whom there deserves to be many)so I'll shut up now!
