Legacy Lane

Upon browsing through the library, looking for something new with "substance," the beauty of the cover on Legacy Lane caught my eye. Glancing through it, I thought it might be a little too bland. It turned out, however, to be a book that I've since recommended to many friends. Yes, it was predictable -- but isn't that refreshing in today's world? There's no complex sub-plot, no violence, no intrigue ... just a plain, uncomplicated, enjoyable story -- with a happy ending!! It really draws you into a peaceful place, and you feel surrounded by genuinely good, God-loving people. At the end, you just wish your "visit" could have lasted longer.

This novella is a classic Robin Lee Hatcher story. The characters quickly become your friends. You want to linger with them, and you care about their futures. I am eagerly looking forward to reading more about the citizens of Hart's Crossing.

Legacy Lane is a heartwarming story about returning home. It explores the struggles that come with returning to a once familiar place, all while feeling as though you're a stranger to what you once knew. The mother daughter relationship portrayed in the story sparks with realism and wit, and the thread of romance gently woven through keeps you turning the pages. I also loved the names of the characters! Wonderfully creative! A GREAT gift for a mother, daughter or sister -- or for anyone in need of finding their way back home again.

I am a huge fan of Ms. Hatcher's writing, so I waited anxiously for this book to come out, just like I do all of her books. I was excited when I got my copy earlier than anticipated. Lucky me! Ms. Hatcher definitely delivered a joy of a story in Legacy Lane. This book was a delight from start to finish. Heartwarming, full of hope, filled with Scriptural truth, and containing just a dab of romance, too. I fell in love with Hart's Crossing and its citizens, and I can't wait to return there with the next book. My only complaint is that the rest of the series won't be coming out faster than scheduled (as shown in the back of the book). But because this is a shorter book, you won't mind reading the first one now and then reading it again when the next one in the series comes out. In fact, it's so good, I'd recommend reading it more than once.

Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my favorite authors. Her books always grab you by the heart, and this one is no exception. If there is someone in your family searching for faith in Christ, this book is an absolute roadmap! Yet, it's a fun, lighthearted read with a "Mitford" feel to it. I feel like the characters have already become my friends and I'm anxious for the other books in the series to come out.
