Leaper: The Misadventures of a Not-Necessarily-Super Hero

Leaper is a very unusual book. It has elements of tragedy, comedy, theology and philosophy all tightly interwoven together to make a phenomenal read! This book is great. Wood writes at a frenetic pace, and almost makes the reader tired as James, the protagonist, recalls all that happens to him as he discovers his leaping ability. Again, the reading flows very well and the characters are well developed. I promise you won't be disappointed when you read this book.

The Bible says God gives each of us a special gift. I got cheated. Sure, I have gifts, but I can't leap! What would you do if you discovered God had given you an extremely unusual gift? What if you could "leap" from one place to another just by thinking about it. Now think about this: you're lying on a table at your acupuncturist, and you're thinking about a cutting board your ex-wife is pitchinig a fit over,insisting she has to have it or the world will come to an end. You can picture that board, you know exactly where it is, what box it is in, and the next thing you know you are standing in your ex-wife's locked garage, dressed in your underwear with little pins sticking out of your back. Now think about how you are going to explain this to your former wife and to your acupuncturist, let alone how you're going to get out of there with no pants, no wallet, and no car. No place to carry your keys for that matter. That's how James found out about his special gift. James isn't all that happy about this gift thing, either. Why couldn't he have received something more respectful or holy. In the first place people don't believe him when he tells them he can leap. In fact they thing he's either lying or crazy, or both. He gets in a world of trouble, and is forced to examine his relationships with others, and with God. He finds he's lacking in both areas. Geoffrey Wood has a wild sense of humor, and a biting wit. He's blended them with a deep exploration of faith in one novel. Laugh out loud funny. Don't miss this one.

An absolutely excellent book! Unlike anything I have ever read. Enjoyable to everyone, it subtly explores seemingly simple concepts of trust and faith but does so with a thoroughly engaging and hilarious story. I laughed out loud on numerous occasions. The over-caffeinated pace can leave you breathless at times and you will have a hard time putting this one down. In the end you have been entertained but left with an interesting question, is your ability to trust strong enough that it allows you to take a leap of faith.

Different than anything I've ever read, I loved every sentence. I laughed out loud quite a few times. Even if you're not really into superheros or sci-fi, you'll still enjoy the book. It's got humor, a little action, and quirky characters. And, most importantly, great writing.

This book is simply an extension of Geoffs real personality! He worked for me as a Barista and his antics behind the bar were as quirky, unpredictable and hilarious as is this book. "Write what you know," Geoff has the incredable gift of being able to make people laugh and teach them something at the same time. He was a treasure to Starbucks and now is a newly discovered treasure to the literary world. Thanks Geoff.
