Great Book

Awesome book! If you speak french or in the process of learning french its a great book to read. He paints a very good picture of the country side back in the late 19th century. Also if u liked this on don't forget to get La Gloire de mon Pere which is just as good as this one. Enjoy!

Out of all of Marcel Pagnol's works, Le Chateau de ma Mere is my favorite. Pagnol's love for Provence is captivating. The novel is beautifully descriptive and takes you right into the heart of Provence; you can hear the cicadas singing in the background. Le Chateau is a touching portrayal of childhood, capturing both joy and sorrow.

I have read this book during my freshman year in Egypt at my French school "Notre Dame de la Delivrande." This book seemed borring at first but as I continued reading I found the reasons why Marcel Pagnol has written it. I have read it in French and it was the best book anyone can e4ver read.
Worth a read, if you speak french

This book gives a deep insight into the influence that a child can have on the world around him. As an A-Level text here in the UK it is both intriguing and involving. Part of Marcel Pagnols childhood memories, the sequel to "La gloire de mon père", this book is definitely worth reading. A classic, even though I would recommend it be read in English - for those people that don't speak french. Très bien.
