A New Angle on an Old Tale...

As a lover of True Crime, I have read many, many books by many different authors. I also saw all the TV crime shows on the case of Tom Murray so I was hesitant to buy this book. I'm so glad I did! Beattie takes a different slant on the case, concentrating on the interviews given to Murray right after the murder of his wife, Carmin Ross. The interrogation is astonishing in it's scope; most suspects don't offer a fraction of what Murray does. Usually dry and boring, this transcript of those interviews are compelling and a great read. I also really enjoyed the acknowledgments (something I usually skip)and will read some of the works recommended there. My only tiny suggestion is that the photos include Tom's hand injuries. If you like true crime, you will like this book.

Wanted more information

Good book, but was left wanting more information on the trial....and the defendant. i.e. what route did he drive from Manhattan to Lawrence and did anyone "time" it...feel like there would have been more information if the author had actually attended the trial. Needed more on the trial to find out why the jury convicted him with circumstantial evidence. Also did not like the pseudonym used for the daughter "Helen" wish it would have been a "younger" name...that really bothered me throughout the book.
