Koreans began trickling into the United States in the 1800s, but it wasn't until after 1903 that large numbers began to immigrate. At this time, was and uncomfortable economic conditions caused many Koreans to seek refuge in outside nations. Since then, the population of Korean Americans has grown to more than one million, making them the fourth largest Asian group in America.
