I got myself back!

WOW! Thank you so much for your obedience to Christ to write the book "Kiss me again". Today is my fortieth birthday and you have given me the greatest gift! I got myself back! I prayerfully anticipated your book and, God still did exceedingly and abundantly above all I asked or thought. I knew my marriage needed this, but I had no idea how the log jam of emotions was affecting my children, ministry and self perception. I decided to write you today because I caught myself dancing around the kitchen to the song "Ray of Light-I feel like I just got home" I realized that was the happy little girl I recognized from before the abuse started. Then I cried, and of course "I am not a crier" (prior point of pride) LOL.

A must read for all women!

SEX! SEX! SEX! So, did I hook you with that title? I hope so because I've got some information that you need to have about sex. I just finished reading a new book by Barbara Wilson called "Kiss Me Again: Restoring Intimacy in Marriage." WOW! You've got to read this book. Never before have I read a book with more practical, honest and helpful information about sex than this one. I like information that I can use - straight out of the box - and this book fits the bill. Barbara Wilson takes the statement we've all heard "Don't have sex before marriage" and explains it not only from a biblical standpoint but also a physiological one and an emotional one. She does a wonderful job explaining what happens inside the brain when men and women become sexually active before marriage and how that plays an important role in the marriage relationship later. If you have a less than perfect past, have experienced abuse, or even went into marriage as a "virgin" this book is for you. The beauty of this book is that after explaining all these interesting and helpful things the author walks you through the healing process. She really takes you full circle. Now of course that will take effort on your part but I know it will be worth it. Even if you have a perfect sex life this book is still helpful. It is also a must read for all moms of pre-teens and teens. (I'd even add college students into this mix.) Not everything is applicable to them but it can sure give you some practical talking points for talking to your daughters ( & sons) about sex. The point is that I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone. God made us to enjoy sex. It's supposed to be pleasurable - even after marriage. To quote a little Top Gun for you Gen Xers - If you've "lost that lovin' feeling" read this book.

Kiss Me Again - VERY helpful!

This book is absoultely amazing!! I am so thankful that Barbara Wilson followed the Lord's leading and wrote this book. What am I so excited about? Well, in a nutshell - healing! Healing from past sexual sins. Healing from hurts. Forgiveness, both for myself and those who abused me. Kiss Me Again is a short, 12 chapter journey for restoring any lost intimacy in your marriage. Your past sexual sins play a huge part in how you react to your husband and your marriage. This book gets you on the right path to deal with your sins and how to get past them and to find forgiveness. *I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah for free in exchange for my honest review.

Hits the nail on the head!

This book deals with a difficult discussion topic - your sexual history and its effect on your marriage. If you find yourself wondering why your sex life is not what you think it should be (or know it should be), grab this book and a pencil. This is not a "light reading" book. This book will challenge you and cause you to come on your knees before God, letting Him heal you and change you. This book is a great book for counseling women who are struggling in their marriages or who are having sexual issues. Barbara takes women step-by-step through the healing process, and encourages them with the Word of God. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling in this area.

help for women in marriage

Many married women yearn for physical and emotional closeness with their mates yet shun intimate advances. This was Barbara Wilson's feelings in her marriage. She writes out of her own experience with a great deal of compassion. Wilson lost her virginity at age 18. It was not a positive experience for her and she internalized the idea that sex was for a man's pleasure and that he used women to get it. She protected herself with barriers to intimacy that remained even into her second marriage. In our time, most couples (including Christians) have sex before marriage. Wilson argues that these sexual encounters establish bonds that remain. Because of sex from the past emotional and physical dysfunction is all too frequent. The good news is that God can heal your wounds and restore your marriage, no matter what your sexual past. The first part of the book helps the reader understand how sex from the past affects one's marriage today. The second part of the book deals with healing, taking the reader through specific steps to restoration of intimacy in the marriage. Practical exercises, tools and a study guide actively take the reader through the process. It begins with making a life map, a reflection on the events of your past. Wilson walks the reader through the process of determining where healing needs to take place. She uses many reflective questions with plenty of space to write a response. A woman's response to sex is complex. It is more than just a physical act. God intended that it unite the souls and bodies of two people. The bonds remaining from sex outside of marriage leave scars and cause future intimacy problems. Wilson was healed of these scars and shares the steps she took to allowed God to it. If you love your husband but you don't want to make love with him, this book is for you. There is healing available. God wants to heal your marriage. This book is written for women but husbands can benefit from reading it too. The husband can help his wife feel safe and loved as she is healed and opens up to greater intimacy.
