Book Overview

All Molly Forrester wants is to find that one big story that can redirect her journalism career away from the sex/relationship advice column she writes for Zeitgeist magazine ("wedged somewhere between Marie Claire and Cosmo") and back to the serious news business. But she didn't expect to trip over it, especially when "it" turned out to be the bloody body of one of her coworkers, and she certainly didn't expect to ruin her brand new Jimmy Choos over...

Great new fun murder mystery

Molly Forrester is a journalist for Zeitgeist magazine that is stuck in a rut. She wants to be writing the hard hitting stories but is stuck writing the sex/relationship column. This changes when she takes here friend back to the office one night to see a hideous piece of art the office is now displaying and trips over the body of one of her coworkers. She sets out to solve the murder of this coworker especially when it looks like the police are not heading in the correct direction. Molly sees this story as the one that will make her career. Molly is able to unravel the life of her coworker and suddenly there are a number of suspects as apparently the man is cheating on his wife and his lover. Motives are all over the place. Molly calls on her girlfriends to help as well as picking the brain of the homicide detective to solve the crime faster than the police. Loved this story. If you like Charmed, Kate White's books and the "Wedding Mysteries" by Deborah Donnelly you will like this book. It was a well written fun and light mystery.

One of the Most Talented New Mystery Writers to Hit the Scene...

Molly Forrester loves her job as the resident "Dear Abby" columnist at Manhattan's glossy Zeitgeist Magazine, and while she's not working on "hard" news stories, she has a lot of perks - like being able to go to work in her pajamas when she feels the need. Though she's always held the hope that opportunity for a more serious journalism career would knock, she never thought that it would throw itself under her feet, more or less, ruining her electric blue Jimmy Choos, and placing her smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation surrounding her Zeitgeist colleague, Teddy. Now Molly, with the help of her two best friends - lawyer Cassady, and party planner Tricia - and an uber hot homicide detective, Molly finds herself trying to solve the crime herself, in an attempt to land the biggest story of her career. That is, if her investigation doesn't land her six-feet below ground. The moment I saw the cover of Sheryl J. Anderson's KILLER HEELS, I had SEX AND THE CITY flashbacks, and knew that I had to have it. Sheryl J. Anderson is possibly one of the most talented new mystery writers to hit the scene in the past couple of years. Her descriptions of connections in New York City, and how murderous the writing/magazine industry truly is, are right on mark; and her character development, and snappy dialogue keep the reader enthralled from first page to last. A fabulous first novel that will make you feel underdressed - it may be wise to slip on a pair of six-inch heels while reading. Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper

Totally hooked

I am *NOT* a Sex and the City fan so I was ready not to like this book. I enjoyed it so much I ended up reading it in one setting. It is fun and sassy with great characters.

Totally Sex and The City!!

The characters in this book reminded me so much of SATC!! So if you're a big fan of SATC like I am, and eager for a similar cast of characters, this is a really fun book to read. Add a murder mystery, and you get this amazingly entertaining, impossible-to-put-down book. The beginning of this book had me a little doubtful, but after the first 40 or so pages, I was hooked--I finished reading the book in one night. I must admit, the writing style isn't too great and rather undeveloped, but that doesn't stop this book from being very fun and entertaining--after all, you're not buying this book for literary value, it's more a "just for fun" kinda book. It reminded me of Kate White's Bailey Weggins mysteries with the same amount of romance mixed into the mystery. Highly recommended!

upbeat, funny and refreshing journalist tale

After having dinner with one of her best friends, Molly Forrester agrees to go to her workplace, Zeitgeist magazine to show Cassady the ugliest piece of art in existence, one that The Publisher (that is always how he is referred to) has left in a prominent place. When they arrive at the office Molly steps in something wet and when Cassady turns on the lights, they find the murdered body of the advertising director Teddy Reynolds, a knife in his throat. Molly's first instinct is to call their best friend Tricia but Cassidy the lawyer calls 911.Molly a columnist in the tradition of Dear Abby and Ann Landers sees this murder as a story that will get her a job as a serious news reporter if she investigates the case and finds the killer. Teddy had as many friends as he did enemies including a wife he cheated on and a mistress he also cheated on who happens to be Molly's boss. By the time she and her two friends finish their investigation; Molly is shot at and has become romantically involved with the lead detective on the case. The first installment in what looks to be a winning series is upbeat, funny and totally, refreshingly original. The investigation is fascinating as Molly first follows the romance trail and in mid-stream shifts to the money motive because she comes upon a clue that the victim was doing something illegal with one of the accounts. The heroine is an original and her deep solid friendships with Cassady and Trisha ring true and feel real. Sheryl Anderson provides a fabulous opening act.Harriet Klausner
