Charming Story

My 7-year-old son actually picked this book up before I did, read through it, and told me how good it was! So I read it, and I have to agree. It's a charming story and even led to some lively discussions about heaven and the afterlife 8-) Recommended.

Fun With a Message

This is a spirited story about Kiki, who makes hats to give away, and what happens when a girl comes by asking to buy one. When Kiki gives her one, she brings more people and Kiki tells them to take two; one to keep and one to give away. They all have so much fun giving them, they give both hats and come back for more. The story is written in whimsical verse and isn't at all preachy. My kiddos (3,4,5, and 7) love this story. It is especially dear to us, since we love to use the little blue Knifty Knitter loom and Bernat Super Value yarn to make cozy hats for babies in need. It really is a lot of fun and we can really relate to this delightful story. The story is lively and fun and the illustrations are just as enjoyable. I love a fun story with a nice message and Kiki's Hats delivers.

Our Gifts Live On and On...

"Kiki's Hats" is a fun, lively new picture book about a woman who loves to knit hats and give them away. When a girl asks if she's selling the hats and learns that she is, in fact, giving them away, she happily takes one and soon returns to get one for her brother. Pretty soon, a trend has started. People love Kiki's hats and are giving them away left and right. Kiki doesn't mind. She has seemingly boundless energy and happily knits more and more. It even makes the national news and all leads up to the book's wonderful ending. The illustrations are textered, vividly colorful, and a lot of fun to look at. The story is told in a fun rhyming style, ideal for read-aloud. Overall, "Kiki's Hats" is a nice, fun book, with a simple but powerful message. I recommend this book without reserve or hesitation.

Perfect book for kids

I read this book to both my kids (almost 4 and 10) and they both loved the book. I found that it was not overally sappy with the message of giving to others. I think that most kids would enjoy this book and frankly during the holidays this is definitely the sort of books that we should be reading.

Fantastic story to teach us all about gift giving!!

I saw this book one morning on a local TV show and decided to order a bunch to give my grandkids for Halloween instead of candy. Most of them can read and it was awesome listening to each of them read this story to me. This book teaches how important and FUN it can be to do something good for someone else. It can be as simple as visiting a friend who is sick, raking leaves, or giving them a warm hat for their head. I think our kids need more of these books as an example of what life should be. It's a great book for teaching how we each have the power to create something good that can last a lifetime.
