We've had this book for 4 yrs and I decided to finally write a review. This is another good edition to the "On my Way" Series. It helps explain in very simple terms the stress associated with starting a new school. Would be great for children starting a new preschool or daycare (not really for older kids as the illustrations and text are too simple). My kids really enjoyed this book!
Great Book for pre-schoolers

My daughters love this book. The illustrations are so child friendly. The theme of going to school is so topical for 2-4 year olds. The book truly helps with the school conversation. My husband and I really enjoy reading this book to our children because Kevin demonstrates his feelings about going to school in a very real way that my daughter can relate to. We love that Kevin finds a friend, Ali, and that he loves his day at school. My daughter always says "hello" to Kevin and Ali.
Good Lesson for New Students

No elaborate illustrations. No fancy words. Just colorful drawings and large, easy-to-read text simply told from a child's point of view. This sturdy board book is perfectly sized for small hands. Kevin Goes to School is a big hit in my house. My favorite part shows Kevin shouting "No Mom, wait! Don't go yet!" It reminds me of the time my daughter gripped my own leg during her first week of day care. I recommend this book if your own child is starting school or day care. It could help make the transition less traumatic. The vocabulary is fairly simple, so it can also be used as an early reader book for your child who is just learning to read.
