Will They Ever Learn?

All of us are born with a special gift; we either embrace that gift or wish we did not have it. Jayd Jackson is no different. Her abilities to see into the past and into the future was passed down through three generations; from grandmother, to mother, to Jayd. Jayd is the typical busy teenager taking all A P classes, a busy social life, and keeping her psychic powers under control. Her busy life also has her flip-flopping between two boyfriends, but no matter the pressure from Jeremy and Rah, Jayd maintains these relationships without sex. There are a few aspects of the story not clear to me, but I feel this is due to the fact this is book number eight, and my first read of the series. KEEP IT MOVIN' was a great read about teenage life and one which I enjoyed. It was true to life with the violence and the carrying of a gun in the glove compartment of the car. The downside was the extreme use of profanity. I recommend KEEP IT MOVIN' to teens and young adults, with the suggestion they begin reading with book number one in the series. Jayd Power

Jayd Jackson is a young lady with special powers. She has the ability to predict future happenings and see into the past. She received these powers, most recently from her grandmother, who she calls Mama and her mother, known to her as Mom. Mom is gifted as well, though her gifts are limited to reading Jayd's mind. Drama High: Keep it Movin' by L. Divine is a very different, entertaining young-adult book. The young people have the same angst and issues as all young kids growing up in the hood. However, the fact, that Jayd has special powers gave this book a special flavor. Keep it Movin' is a delightful journey into the life and mind of a young woman who accepts her special gifts, while navigating her teen years. Jayd is consumed with female friendships and conflicts, while at the same time dealing with two young men vying for her attention, Rah and Jeremy. Rah, her boyfriend, is a street guy with a baby and baby-mama drama. Jeremy is a rich, white, former boyfriend who will do anything to be part of her life. But Jayd's main focus is keeping her head above water, embracing her powers and working on developing her own hair braiding technique. The combination of these scenarios make for a fun, easy read. Though I was a bit taken aback by the language, it gave a certain authenticity to the story and I recommend the novel to teens, fourteen and older.
