The Karma Charmer

I have been reading 2 or 3 books a week as long as I remember. I can honestly say that The Karma Charmer is one of the best ! It has everything a book should have. It made me laugh and made me cry. The characters are real and believable. If you enjoy a fast reading, most enjoyable experience get this book. I am going to read it again. Carl Mondello

Charming, fun read

I recently started to re-read this book for the second time since I purchased it ten years ago, and the story is every bit as fresh and charming as the first time through. The plot is about a 46 year-old aging hippie's romance with a 21 year-old college student who comes to live with him when her dorm burns down. Dick Howser, the main character, is quite the ladies man of the Woodstock scene but Leslie is enough to make him start thinking marriage and concocting schemes to stave off her seemingly inevitable move to NYC after graduation (she refers to their relationship as her big college fling). When Howser learns that the mother of the son he hasn't seen in seven years has passed away and he's now the sole caregiver, complications ensue. Great insight into the male psyche with many references to the 60s era and lifestyle. If you lived through the era, or wish you did, you'll love this book.

The Karma Charmer Cult

This is kind of an underground thing. I never heard of this book when it came out...but someone told someone else...and they told someone else...and they told me! Glad they did. It's one of the funniest books I've ever read. It's about an old hippie's midlife crisis. He still lives in Woodstock, and tries all kinds of crazy things to hold on to his too-young girlfriend. Then a son he has never known comes along and changes everything. It's sexy, funny and a really fast read that you can't put down. I heard it's going to be a movie, and I can't wait for it to come out!

Very fufilling story. Excellent , five stars.

This book is about an olderman who has a young college student come to stay with him and they fall in love. He has many troubles dealing with her and she with him. It takes you back to the 60's.
