Kaplan TExES: The Texas Examination of Educator Standards

Book was somewhat helpful. Didnt care for the EC-12 and 4-8 test prep because I am not interested in those certification areas, but very good practice tests and rationales for the correct answers, especially since pedagogy tests are so vague. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to take the PPR whether right out of pre-service training or someone testing from out of state.

I would recommend three test preps in preparing for the TEXES PPR, especially for the 4-8, and 8-12: Becoming a Middle School or High School Teacher in Texas TExES PPR w/ CD-ROM (REA) - The Best Test Prep for the TExES (Test Preps) Kaplan TExES The first book provides detailed explanations of key terms for each domain and competency but is only relevant for those taking the 4-8 and/or 8-12 PPR exam, and some useful practice questions. The second book provides 4 full-length exams for the EC-4, 4-8, 8-12, and EC-12 respectively, with detailed explanations for each question in the respective exams. The Kaplan TExES is similar to the second in that it provides some explanation on the domains and competencies and then provides 4 practice full-length tests for the respective exams (EC-4, 4-8, 8-12, and EC-12). There are useful test-taking strategies discussed in the book and a diagnostic test that helps the test taker to draft a personalized study plan. I found this a useful supplement to the other two books especially in preparing for an exam as time-consuming and complex as the PPR.

If you are looking foward to pass TEXES PPR this book would be helpful, it has a lot of scenarios that you may use to practice for the real thing... Good luck
