Beyond Amazing Story, Scary, Real History Background Great Writer!

This prolific, highly educated, and brilliant writer never fails to grab your immediate and undivided attention. Her novels are so real, with a true historical background of events in many countries, that brings the effects of actual war and rumors of war, into the homes and lives of amazing characters. I have now experienced the true effects of a real war and have felt the unavoidable changes, upheavals, life direction adjustments, devastations, losses and massive personal damages and strange positive outcomes, caused by life changes in times of war, and how the events reverberate through generations. Jacqueline Winspear will take you into the homes and lives of charcters, both good and criminal, in different countries to investigate complicated mysteries which she has been hired to uncover as an Investigator with Specific Talents. Winspear's novels are a real-life descriptive story of the most interesting and very often ordinary people who have been 'caught up', often accidently, into life-changing situations; you will remember these characters, as many of these stories could have easily been mine....or yours. She is a wonderful history and geograpphy teacher, will teach you more than you ever learned in any history class, and will take you on a journey which will change the way you see your entire world. I needed a bit of downtime, so tried one of her books, and have now read nearly everything she has written, Non-Stop - (not finished yet!). Her books immediately demand your full attention and thought ... each is that well written. Her books will amuse, teach, sadden to the extreme, inform, inspire, and scare the life out of the reader...not a single page will end your addiction to Jacqueline Winspear's writing. I hope she never stops writing, as she has enriched my life as no other author has. Her character development is astounding; details will amaze. Her own charcter, education, impecccable manners and Class shines through every sentence. I am thrilled to be addicted to this incredible lady's writing!

Historical/ fictional world war ll Detective story.

I must say when I purchased this book, I solely picked it for the story line printed. I didn't know anything about the author or have read, or even heard, about her other books. I didn't EVEN realize this book is one of many in a series, involving the main character, Maisie Dobbs, Detective and Physiologist. I Have to say it was a pleasure to read, a very good story line, and truly not like the many historical/fictional world war ll books, that I have been reading... that quite honestly, have either left me with tears, or my jaws aching, from gritting them, especially when a very real, (what we know to be absolutely the truth), of how people were tortured, killed and hung in the streets, gassed, and sent to camps all over Germany. These horrible scences played out in many a story.. told in horrible details. This book has a VERY English background, ( which I just love) the story is about Maisie travling to Munich Germany, by request of the British Secret Service, to bring back a man who is crucial to Britians war plans. It is full of danger, suspense, disguise, and during the story you learn of the details of Maisie's very sad and heartbreaking story. I loved it...and the change it brought to my reading..a bit of relief on a lighter side, not the RIP your heart out stories I have been reading. I plan on looking into the rest of the series, I would recommend it to anyone if your looking for a lighter read, to take a break from the heavier stories of crazy Hitler and his crazy doings and his henchmen. They are here, but not as strongly described as in other story's. Gives your head a break.. from all the horrible wartime acts against innocent peoples. Its just a nice good old fashion mystery,... and a thrilling tale of danger and intrigue.!! Maisie is a combination of good old detective and Heroine all wrapped up in one !!!
